Responsible for administrative, technical, and inspection tasks related to current and long-range planning as well as interpretation and enforcement of land development regulations and related ordinances.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides technical and professional assistance to the general public, community organizations, other town departments, and other agencies and municipalities.
Assists Planning Director with staff support for the Planning Board and Zoning Board of Adjustment. May attend meetings of the Planning Board and Zoning Board of Adjustment.
Acts as code enforcement officer in reviewing applications for building permits, certificates of occupancy, and others as assigned; issues notices of violation; maintains associated logs and inspection records; compiles annual report.
Investigates complaints of alleged violations of the zoning regulations and related ordinances and takes appropriate action as required; appears in court as a witness to enforce provisions as necessary.
Works with the Planning Director and Town Counsel on legal matters related to code enforcement.
Explains and assists the public, staff, applicants and their agents in understanding codes adopted by the Town pertaining to zoning and building codes and related processes.
Makes independent decisions regarding enforcement of local zoning regulations, subdivision and site plan regulations, and applicable state statues, rules and regulations.
Responds to inquiries from property owners, banks, real estate firms, and the general public; explains zoning rules and regulations; explains procedures and assists applicants in completing required forms.
Performs other related work as required by and at the direction of the Planning Director and Community Development Director.
