Hooksett has location, location, location! We are a community of about 14,500 residents in Southern New Hampshire.  We are located within an hour’s drive from our State’s beautiful Seacoast, Lakes, White Mountains and Boston, MA, all with direct access from Hooksett’s major highways. NH’s capital, Concord, is to our North and NH’s largest city, Manchester, borders to our South. We are within a 15-minute drive to Manchester-Boston Regional Airport.  

The Community Development Department - Code Enforcement Officer performs the duties of administration and inspection for the compliance of Federal, State and Town laws, rules, and regulations for zoning, building inspection, code enforcement, ordinance enforcement, and Health Officer duties (environmental  health, housing and sanitation programs).  Position is the staff support to the ZBA land use board. Site plan (other plan types) reviews are frequent, this knowledge a plus.

Must have valid NH driver’s license, Bachelor’s Degree; possess at least ICC certification with general knowledge all construction aspects (or certified within 2 yrs.); be a Certified Building  Official (or certified within 2 yrs.); Engineering degree a plus.

Five (5) years’ experience in construction and/or building; three (3) years in a supervisory position or responsibly in charge of a related department; OR any equivalent combination of education, experience and/or license(s) which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge’s, skills and abilities. 

This is a full-time salary exempt position. Must pass all pre-employment background checks and tests.  Salary commensurate with experience. Competitive benefits package.  6 month probation.  Work hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 8:00am-4:30pm; Wednesday 8:00am-6:30pm; Friday 8:00am-Noon (additional hours for evening meetings and other assignments as needed).
