The Town of Brunswick Planning & Development Department is seeking a Code Enforcement Officer/Zoning Administrator capable of working within a team environment as well as individually. This position involves extensive interaction with the public both in the office and in the field. The Code Enforcement Officer/Zoning Administrator is responsible coordinating activities and the flow of information between departments and citizen boards, performing on-site inspections, providing technical assistance, interpreting building codes and ordinances, responding to complaints, and enforcing all regulations.
The employee also provides support in the office environment by assisting in the issuing of permits, maintaining records, reviewing plans, interpreting plans and related documents, investigating complaints, answering inquires by phone or in person, generally serving the public, assisting in the overall workload, and by providing staff support to boards and committees.
This position also serves as a back-up for technical and enforcement work by performing electrical, building, plumbing, housing, safety, fire prevention and zoning inspections for the Town.
The successful candidate will have proven communication skills; considerable knowledge, training, and experience in zoning administration along with building and construction trades; proficient computer skills, and a valid driver’s license. State certification in Code Enforcement, Local Plumbing, and MUBEC is required within one year of hire date. The full salary range is $69,443 - $90,196 annually. The starting pay will be pursuant to qualifications and budgetary allowance.
