Professional work including processing of subdivision, site planning and zoning applications, conducting basic research assignments, providing zoning and research information to the public, and other duties related to the Planning function. Accepts subdivision, site plan and other Planning Board related applications and collects fees. Assists other staff with technical aspects of preparing Planning Board cases: interpreting legal land descriptions; determining whether rezoning petitions have required signatures; preparing lists of property owners to be notified of public hearings; scheduling public hearings and drawing area maps. Prepares routine staff reports, including Planning Board minutes, and, under supervision, develops recommendations for zoning cases for the Planning Board or other commissions and boards. Keeps applicants informed as to the status of their applications. Carries out research elements for planning studies and drafts sections of more complex reports. Assists in map-making and other graphic presentations. Attends community and/or board meetings as requested.
Two years of related college course work or completion of an approved vocational program in a related field and two years of experience as an Assistant Planner or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
