2019 SORP Scholarship Opportunity
The Society of Outdoor Recreation Professionals ("SORP") announces the 2019 round of the Christopher K. Jarvi Scholarship for the Advancement of Partnerships. This scholarship was created to assist dedicated professionals in exploring way to integrate more partnerships into their work to benefit and bring value to parks, public lands and the communities that host them. Christopher Jarvi had an active leadership role in prominent outdoor recreation and community organizations including the National Park Service, National Recreation and Park Association and California Parks and Recreation Society. Throughout his career, he viewed his job as building a stronger community rather than simply delivering services. At his request, this scholarship was created to encourage parks and recreation professionals to continue to explore how partnering efforts can help achieve park, recreation and community goals. Scholarships range from $500 - $1,500 and may be used over the 18 months following the award. The scholarship period opens on May 3 and will remain open until July 31, 2019.
