Maine Bytes 'N Pieces, Winter 2026
Bytes 'N Pieces provides updates on the "comings and goings" of planners in Maine. Recent moves and news include:
- Kristen Henry is now Director of Economic and Community Development in Madawaska. She most recently served as the Community Development Specialist and Project Manager for the Northern Maine Development Commission.
- Mikala Jordan joined the Town of Waterboro as the Town Planner. She'll be leading development review, long range planning, community engagement, and economic development in the Town.
- Margaret McIntire joined the Town of Harpswell in June 2025 as the Town Planner. She has worked for the Town since November 2021, beginning as a Code Office Assistant and quickly moved to becoming a Code Officer and Planning Assistant.
- Lauren Turner is now the Town Planner for the Town of New Gloucester.
We are saddened to share the news of two planners who passed away in 2025: - William “Will” H. Johnston spent his career as a community planner and program manager for various organizations, including the Greater Portland Council of Governments, Maine Department of Conservation, State Planning Office, Muskie School and Town of New Gloucester. - Joe Ziepniewski was one of a few legendary planners at GPCOG, where he worked as Deputy Director. His most recent position was Chief Planner for the Town of Scarborough; he retired in 2008 after 25 years of service. Read more.
