The Sunrise County Economic Council (SCEC) seeks a Community Planner. This position will work directly with Washington County communities and organizations on planning, funding, and development opportunities for community resilience and other infrastructure projects.

Planning experience and an understanding of how municipalities operate in rural communities, knowledge of the principles and practices of planning within rural communities, and an understanding of land use planning practices, as well as the capacity to provide technical assistance to municipalities and carry out specialized planning research activities are a must. Knowledge of Maine’s Growth Management Law and professional experience in preparing Comprehensive Plans and regional planning studies will be an important part of this position.

Minimum qualifications include at least three (3) years of relevant experience in the planning profession and a bachelor's degree in planning or a related field. Exceptions to these requirements will be considered when the applicant can demonstrate relevant skills in meeting personal and professional responsibilities. AICP certification is highly valued. Administrative-level municipal experience is also a plus. Knowledge of and commitment to Washington County and its economic development is strongly preferred.
