This is Senior Director level professional work coordinating a complex federal/state/local partnership program across many different disciplines to develop, manage and implement initiatives in coastal natural resource conservation and development.
Current program priority areas are implementation of Maine Won’t Wait (Maine’s award-winning climate plan), and the state’s new Resilient Maine Program, https://www.maine.gov/future/climate/resiliencegrant focusing on working waterfront conservation, habitat restoration, climate resilience and coastal literacy. A special focus will be to partner with and support local governments in these program areas.
The Director manages an annual budget of $6-9 million, a team of six professionals and several contractors. The Director implements program policies and initiatives in support of national, state, and local goals and objectives established in collaboration with executive management and funders. The position is a member of the office’s senior management team and work is performed under limited direction. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education, training, and/or experience demonstrating advanced technical expertise in coastal resource policy, as well as program and financial management. Financial management skills should include budget development and oversight, especially involving federal grants and grant systems. Candidates should also demonstrate the ability to effectively manage agency and partner teams to develop and implement programs to address complex and interdisciplinary coastal management challenges.
Preferred Additional Qualifications: Experience in managing and supporting professional development of a team of highly motivated professional staff. Demonstrated ability to deliver excellent service to communities by considering multiple viewpoints and cultivating non-traditional partnerships.
