Regional Resiliency Planner

The Northern Maine Development Commission (NMDC) seeks a skilled and motivated Regional Resiliency Planner to lead community resilience initiatives across northern Maine. This position will focus on climate adaptation planning, grant administration, and technical assistance to support communities in developing and implementing resilience strategies.
Essential Responsibilities
- Conduct community needs assessments and facilitate public meetings to identify priority resilience projects
- Provide technical expertise and support for climate adaptation and resilience project development
- Administer grants and assist communities with reporting requirements and reimbursement processes
- Organize and facilitate resilience action plan workshops and stakeholder engagement sessions
- Identify and pursue funding opportunities from federal, state, and other sources
- Develop and maintain partnerships with data-sharing networks and service providers
- Document best practices and prepare case studies of successful projects
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in planning, environmental science, public administration, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in community development, grant administration, or related field
- Demonstrated experience in project management and stakeholder engagement
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in grant writing and administration
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout northern Maine
Preferred
- Experience with climate resilience or adaptation planning
- Knowledge of federal and state funding programs (EDA, MaineDOT, USDA-Rural Development)
- Familiarity with Maine communities and regional planning
- Experience facilitating public meetings and workshops
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with project management software
- Ability to maintain databases and tracking systems
- Knowledge of GIS software (preferred)

Working Conditions
- Full-time position (40 hours per week)
- Regular travel throughout northern Maine required
