Join the vibrant community of Hinesburg, a growing Vermont town that combines the complexity of a larger community with the charm and warmth of small-town living. We are seeking a Town Planner who is dedicated to helping shape the town’s future through well-planned, thoughtful growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Planning Commission to update the Town Plan and local land use regulations.
  • Work closely with town committees (e.g., Conservation Commission) to support community goals.
  • Provide clear, helpful advice on interpreting the town’s land use regulations, state statutes, and other regulatory matters for the public.
  • Engage with the community through a variety of methods, including public meetings, surveys, and outreach initiatives, to gather input and ensure all voices are heard in the planning process.
  • Review and analyze development plans and other technical planning documents.
  • Write policy updates, public outreach materials, and planning grants.
  • Advance the town's planning objectives with community-centered initiatives.

  • The ability to obtain a working knowledge of the town’s zoning and subdivision regulations, as well as other pertinent state statutes (e.g., Local Land Use and Act 250).
  • Strong organizational and executive functioning skills.
  • Community-centric with an ability to value and hear diverse perspectives.
  • Strong collaborative skills to work effectively with diverse stakeholders to achieve common goals.
  • A dedicated public servant with a passion for enhancing the town's future.

Compensation Range:
$55,000 - $72,500, based on experience
