Position Summary
The Town Planner is a professional administrative position responsible for performing professional Town planning duties including, but not limited to, development review, development of, and revisions to, the Comprehensive Master Plan, Land Use and Subdivision Ordinances, and other related regulations, ordinances and policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Development Review: Evaluate commercial site plans, subdivisions, and land use applications to ensure compliance with local ordinances and environmental standards.
- Policy Planning: Draft updates to the Comprehensive Plan and zoning ordinances to address emerging community needs.
- Public Engagement: Present detailed staff reports to the Planning Board and facilitate public workshops.
- Project Management: Manage planning-related grant initiatives and coordinate with external consultants.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Land Use, Planning, or related field.
- Experience: At least three (3) years of progressively responsible municipal planning experience.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in zoning administration and site plan review.
Highly Attractive Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Planning or related field.
- American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification.
