The Agency of Transportation, Environmental Policy and Sustainability Program is seeking a high-performing, multi-tasking individual to launch and manage sustainability initiatives. There is an evolving and growing need for sustainability to be considered and fostered in the transportation sector. This often generates the need to establish, launch, implement and evaluate new ideas. Initiatives under the purview of this position have or may pertain to accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles through incentives programs and electric vehicle charging deployment; energy consumption and/or generation; pollution reduction and analysis; resilience planning; tools development and maintenance; and permitting efficiencies and policy development across more traditional environmental topics like land use, water quality, soils, and habitat connectivity. The focus areas evolve over time as new programs emerge from laws passed by the General Assembly and the Governor, policies by Administration or Agency leadership, or as the result of federal laws and policies.
Responsibilities Include:
•Establish and execute supporting businesses processes required to implement new program initiatives.
•Complete research and technical analyses to aid in the development of policy recommendations, reports on performance, and implementation of continuous improvements.
•Manage contractor and vendor procurement, budget, and invoicing.
•Foster and maintain positive relationships, and coordinate with Agency staff, other state, federal and local agencies, and stakeholders that are involved with or are affected by the implementation of a new program or initiative.
•Inform and advise other Agency program leads, and at times leadership, on the development and evaluation of policies and legislative proposals that lead to new programs or initiatives.
•Represent the Agency at meetings with communities, state and federal agencies, funding partners, and other interested parties.
•Support the presentation of programmatic and funding information to the General Assembly, and at public hearings and groups as needed.
•Address media inquiries.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and has experience in technical analyses, geographic information systems, project management and public administration, is a critical thinker, has excellent written and verbal communication skills, and can foster positive working relationships.
