Reorganization Update
Reorganization Update
All three state organizations
(MAP, NHPA and VPA) along with the full NNECAPA membership have voted in
support of reorganizing as a Chapter of the American Planning
Association with three state Sections.
Since those votes, the hard work has already begun. The new shared website is a first step towards integrating our four organizations. Representatives from the Executive Committees of all four organizations are currently working together on the Transition Taskforce to prepare coordinated budgets, policies and procedures for the Chapter and Sections that will take effect on January 1, 2020. NNECAPA is also in the process of hiring a contractual Chapter Administrator to provide some much needed administrative support to all four organizations.
April is going to be a busy month. It kicks off with a retreat on April 5 and 6 where the members of the Executive Committees of all four organizations will work through as many of the transition items as possible and make sure the new organization evolves in a way that meets the needs of the Chapter and the three Sections. By the end of the month, we anticipate:
- Holding at least one Taskforce Meeting, in addition to the planned retreat.
- Having the administrative services contractor on board.
- Submitting all candidates for elected Chapter offices to APA (vote held in July).
- Meeting with APA to resolve the member management process for transitioning current state association members to Chapter members.
