Awards Committee

Chair: Jim Fisher

The MAP Awards Committee administers an annual awards program to recognize significant achievements and contributions in the field. The Committee Chair coordinates the Association's awards program to be consistent with the criteria established for the Northern New England Chapter of the American Planning Association (NNECAPA) awards programs. The Chair serves on the NNECAPA Awards Selection Committee. The Awards Committees reviews and decides upon award winners from the nominations in each category. The Committee typically meets in March and/or April to decide the winners, with the awards to be announced at the Annual Meeting.

Communications Committee

Chair: Lynne Seeley

The MAP Communications Committee was formed to coordinate and improve MAP's communications with its members and partner organizations. Responsibilities include overseeing production of Front Page (MAP's enewsletter); building MAP's professional network; sharing important resources, news, and information with MAP members and others involved in planning in Maine; and managing the organization's brand guidelines. 


Conference Planning Committee

Chair: 

The MAP Conference Planning Committee plans and coordinates events and professional development workshops for the association, including the general membership meeting, annual meeting, and NNECAPA’s three-state conferences. The committee co-sponsors workshops with other Associations and related organizations. This committee also provides assistance to members in preparation for the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) examination.  


Legislative and Policy Committee (LPC)

Co-Chairs: Eli Rubin and Matt Nazar 

The Legislative and Policy Committee (LPC) is a representative body interested in assuming responsibility for carrying out Association's adopted legislative and policy agenda. The LPC serves a critical function as the advocacy arm of the Association. The purpose of the LPC is to define planning interests and to maximize those interests through effective participation in the legislative process. Nominations Committee

Chair: 

The Nominations Committee solicits suggestions for potential candidates to serve on the Executive Board. The committee contacts potential candidates, presents a formal slate of potential candidates to the membership and conducts the election of candidates to the Board at the Annual Meeting of the membership.
