Maine Association of Planners (MAP) hosts two annual events each year:
The General Membership Meeting is typically held in January and includes a business meeting for MAP members along with discussion about the legislative agenda.
The next General Membership meeting is Friday, February 28 (rescheduled due to weather):
2020 Legislature and the Maine Climate Council - find out what you need to know and give your feedback!
February 28 - Cross Building in Augusta (behind the State House), Room 206
12:00 lunch, 1:00 speakers and discussion
*Speakers Sarah Curran, Gwen Hilton, and Matt Nazar will bring us up to speed on the Climate Council and the intersections with planning in Maine.
*MAP Legislative and Policy Committee (LPC) members will discuss current legislation and ask MAP members to weigh in.
Schedule for the day:
10:30-12:00 MAP Board meeting (open to all MAP members)
12:00-1:00 Lunch and networking at the Cross Office Building Cafe (lunch will be available for purchase)
1:30-3:00 Speakers and discussion, Cross Room 206
3:00-3:30 Other MAP updates, Cross Room 206
The legislature has begun meeting again in its second regular or "short" session and the Maine Climate Council is also hard at work and talking about critical planning-related matters. Come for lunch, hear about what's happening in Augusta, and share your opinion! MAP's LPC follows the political happenings, and gets involved in the legislative process so that the voice of planners can be heard in Augusta and D.C.
Speakers will brief us on the Climate Council (see also https://www.maine.gov/future/initiatives/climate/climate-council), with discussion about planning implications. MAP Board and LPC members will provide updates on the legislature and BuildMaine Action Agenda process and will seek feedback about what MAP priorities to make known with state government and beyond.
Registration is not required, but for a headcount,
please let us know if you are planning to attend: Samantha at Samanthadhorn@gmail.com or
Jared at email@example.com.
We hope to see you there!
